Trash Backpack Challenge – Antananarivo

On December 12, 2025, SAVE launched the Trash Backpack Challenge 2025, a cleanup challenge. The Mahamasina site in Antananarivo was the scene of a strong citizen mobilization. More than 300 motivated young people from 36 organizations and institutions joined forces for concrete action in favor of the environment.

Thanks to the active involvement of young people, volunteers and partners, this day made it possible to collect approximately 1.7 tonnes of waste , thus contributing to the improvement of the living environment and the protection of the urban environment.

Beyond the cleanup effort, this initiative carried a powerful message: that of active citizenship , collective responsibility , and hope for a healthier and more sustainable future . It demonstrated that change is possible when commitment translates into action, and that everyone can play a role in preserving our planet.

We extend our sincere thanks to all participants, civil society organizations (CSOs) and all volunteers who contributed to the success of this day.
