Mini Eco-Heroes Project: a successful first pilot test in Sahamadio!

The SAVE (Sustainable Action for a Vital Environment) association recently successfully completed the pilot phase of its Mini Eco-Heroes project in the rural commune of Sahamadio - Fandriana.

This project aims to raise children's awareness of environmental protection through fun, educational and participatory activities.

Project objective

The Mini Eco-Heroes program aims to raise environmental awareness among students from a young age, encouraging them to become agents of change within their communities. Through practical workshops, children learn how to protect nature , manage waste , preserve water , and adopt responsible actions in their daily lives.

The progress of the pilot phase

This phase is still a trial, it was held for 2 weeks during the month of May 2025. We thank our partner school, the Lycée Privé La Source Sahamadio, who welcomed us with open arms during the implementation of the project.

Since it was still the trial phase, some activities were highlighted, such as:

Awareness sessions on the importance of nature and sustainable resource management;
Sanitation activities within the school;
Meeting and sharing with parents of students;

These activities made it possible to assess the relevance of the program, adapt the educational content and measure the enthusiasm of children and teachers.

And after?

Following the success of this pilot phase, SAVE is preparing to officially launch the full implementation of the Mini Eco-Heroes project, which will begin in November 2025. The program will be extended to other partner schools and will be located in the city of Antananarivo.

The goal is to expand the program to several rural primary schools across Madagascar. However, to bring this vision to life and reach more children, we need support . The development of the project requires financial and material resources in order to:

Train more environmental facilitators;
Provide educational kits and gardening equipment to participating schools;
Ensure regular monitoring of activities in the field;
Ensure the planting of several trees in several sites.
And increase awareness-raising actions in the most vulnerable rural areas.
